The fall software upgrade expands resolutions.
by Charles Onyett
September 20, 2006 - According to an official release by Microsoft at its Tokyo Game Show 2006 press briefing, the Xbox 360 will be able to support 1080p games and videos. According to the press release, the fall update will usher in the upgraded resolution capability.
"[Microsoft's] fall software update, scheduled for release later this year, will allow all Xbox 360 consoles around the world to output game and movie content in 1080p resolution."
Which games will be released in the future that will support the higher resolution is still unannounced. 1080p is a visual upgrade over the Xbox 360's current maximum resolution output of 1080i, or 1920 by 1080 interlaced. We'll update as more details become available.Xbox 360 Goes 1080p HD so now Xbox 360 games will look just as good as the PS3 Games what are your thoughts?
even though the 360 and PS3 can output 1080p it will most likely only be used for movies because i heard that it will be too difficult and too expensive to produce 1080p resolution so games won't be produced in 1080p in maybe about a couple of years, but at least the PS3 will not be the only one with 1080p, so fanboys can't use that to try to make the PS3 better than it really is.Xbox 360 Goes 1080p HD so now Xbox 360 games will look just as good as the PS3 Games what are your thoughts?
VERY few people have HDtvs that support 1080p, some don't even have tvs that support 720p...I just recently bought an HDTV for my 360, and I am not planning to buy another one that supports 1080p.
Unless you are extremely rich and/or stupid, you should not buy a 1080p tv anytime soon...it is still really early for 1080p, and most things just use 1080i or 720p.
Don't plan on using a 1080p tv until at least 2010.Xbox 360 Goes 1080p HD so now Xbox 360 games will look just as good as the PS3 Games what are your thoughts?
My thoughts are: okay, great, but it won't affect me any (cureently anyways). My tv (and most people's tv) don't support 1080p. I think its admirable of Microsoft in attempting to match against the mighty ps3, but the news isn't too thrilling upon the scarcity of 1080p support. For the very few who have tv's that support 1080p, they can't be too excited. From what I heard, not only do you have to have an expensive 1080p tv, but you must have a tv large enough to notice the small incremental differences between 1080p and 720p. Currently the news isn't ground breaking because of its minmal affects. But in the future (say 2-3 yrs) when 1080p tvs are more prevelant, it might mean something.
