Why are Xbox 360 sales higher than the PS3 sales?

From what I seen on IGN most of the time I see Wii at the top, Xbox 360 at 2nd and PS3 at 3rd etc...

From Youtube all I see is how PS3 is better than the 360 but why are the 360 sales still higher than the PS3.

Doesn't make sense...

the 360 was released a full year ahead of the PS3. Thats a huge head start. Its the very reason Microsoft said Xbox lost to PS2, because the PS2 was released earlier. They were quicker out the gate this time and it shows. Also when the PS3 first came out, its high price tag and poor selection of games didn't make it worth while. They have since righted the ship. I sold my 360 to buy a PS3. Shows how things have changed.Why are Xbox 360 sales higher than the PS3 sales?

i own a 360 and i know the reason: The RRoD forces more people to buy more since like 70% of systems get it at one point or another. Stupid microsoft, if xbox didnt have so many good exclusives and a good network, i would be a ps3 fan.
most people think the Xbox is cheaper when it isn't (you still need a hard drive, you have to pay for Xbox Live, if you want wireless internet on it you have to buy the 100 dollar adapter, batteries for the controller every couple of weeks) most people don't think ahead enough to see all of the costs down the road in one year your 200 dollar xbox will cost you about 435-450 dollars plus about 80-90 dollars every year after that for Xbox live and batteries

If you buy the PS3 you pay 300 for the system and thats it other than games

and Yes the RRoD is still going hit my friend just last week (thats his third xbox thats died from it and microsoft won't repair it)
Not only was it because of the 360 being released a full year earlier, but the PS3 was the most expensive of the consoles for the longest time as well. People went to the 360 simply because the initial price was cheaper. Remember, the PS3 price cut only happened 4 months ago. And Sony did sell over 1 million consoles in a matter of weeks after that price cut. Its gonna take time to surpass the 360. However, the PS3 is actually beating both consoles in monthly sales, and this was before the price cut happened.

I have a hard time believing either one will surpass the Wii anytime soon because the Wii reaches out to a much broader audience and I'm pretty sure it was the cheapest of the next gen consoles most of the time.

ok so you can get the pro for 250 which is a good deal so you dont need a harddrive. still 50 dollars cheaper than the cheapest ps3

RRoD happens very rarely now on any new system. Microsoft extended the warrenty to three years so microsoft will fix it for free for the next three years. so idk what he was talking about obviously he doesnt have his facts straight.

The xbox live adapter is only 50 dollars now unless you wanna go all out and fancy with the 100 N adapter (not needed) which wireless sint needed either its not worth it. Get a cheap ethernet cord it works better and cheaper. Just can get in the way if you dont know how to hide it

You can also get the plug and play kit so you know need battereies or a wired controller? totally ps3 biased taking the worste and saying its the only thing. Or you can get rechargable batteries.

Xbox is still selling more because even though sony is getting more exclusives xbox still wins in game selection and has better exlclusvies. Plus a couple sony only games have now gone multi platform so xbox fans of final fantasy or RE5, or something like that can now just keep the xbox and get it on there.

However PS3 dominated (double I wanna say) xbox in black friday sales. I read xbox.joystiq,com and playstaion.joystiq.com every day and they give console battle updates all the time. PS3 actually is on the bottom most of the time but havnt seen many updates since the price drop so idk



I think the biggest reason though that xbox still wins is because of its phenominal online play. Without question xbox dominates playstation there. only di hard ps3 fanboys will argue but without any facts. if youe bring honest xbox wins. Its only like 3.50 a month it isnt that bad.



Wii is always on top because its is for literally ALL age groups and then Xbox and PS3 fight for the teens to 30 and a few straggelers that are older. Not all youtube videos say ps3 is better. Its all about what fan boy you are.You just have only seen half the videos. There used to be a site and youtube channel called wii60 where wii and 360 fanboys teamed up to fight ps3 and exploited everything on it.



Now you may be saying this is biased. I am an xbox fanboy. BUT i just beat uncharted. I have a ps3 AND an xbox 360 I like both but more of a fan of the xbox. Ps3 is really just for some of the cool exclusvies it has right now. All other games are for xbox especially because of the online is so much better . I can say that with experience in both. I think xbox is better.

It's simple. MS have sold everything separately making the 360 look cheap.
Okay I get your point. You're trying to say that if the Ps3 is so good, why does its sales suck.



Simple to explain.



The 360 came out in 2005 whereas the Ps3 came in 2006. The year head start at an average of 2 consumers per month means that 24 people managed to buy a 360 before the ps3 came out. Meaning when ps3 came out there were 0 ps3 sold, and 24 360 sold.



And since the 360 came out first it became very popular. Add 2 more consumers every motnhs from 20o5 to 2009 and you have 60 360 owners and if you count 2 ps3 consumers a month from 2006-2009 you have 48 ps3 owners. Understand?



The next thing the 360 had going for it was the fact that it had Gears of War and a series that seems to be the only thing Microsoft seems to bank on when their back is against a wall, The Halo series....which is by now a freaking 8 year old game and is stale. But it has a large fan base, so you can slap the halo label on a piece of toast and everyone will buy it.



A lot of 360 exclusives are overrated so everyone think Ps3 exclusives sucks. However, they haven't seen the awesomeness of MGS4, Uncharted 1 and 2, Killzone 2, Resistance, Infamous and the list goes on. Will they ever pick it up? No! Cuz like I said they have a huge fanbase



Of couse 360 still has RROD. But does that bother 360 fanboys? No they just buy another 2 or 3 more xbox 360, which will also add to sales. See it's like Microsoft puposely screwed the 360. Can you blame them, it increases sale numbers.



I don't know if Ps3 will ever have more users but even though there was a huge year gap and ever increasing numbers of peple who have to re-purchase a 360, the sale numbers are not that far behnd. There are like only 5 million more 360 owners. Not a huge gap given the year head start and the people coming back to buy new 360s, cuz Microsoft screwed them.
