Microsoft's Xbox 360 console is out and Sony announced a release date for PlayStation 3 months ago. So the big question is, when will Wii launch? The only official answer from Nintendo is sometime before the Thanksgiving holiday in America. But sources -- both on the hardware and development side -- argue that the console will be hitting much sooner.
A number of big-name publishers are set to release their Wii games in mid-to-late October, which suggests that a system debut could not be that far off. And several insiders have told IGN that November 2 could, in fact, be the big day.
Thing is, not all of our contacts are in agreement on the date. Some have suggested that November 12 could, instead, by Wii's launch date. Regardless, though, it seems that Wii fans can look forward to their console sooner rather than later.
Sources suggest that Wii will launch with a $229 price tag and will be available in both black and white. What do you think of Nintendo Wii release date and price?
Release date and price
As of August 2006 an exact release date has not been confirmed. However, Nintendo's most recent statements confirm that the company plans to release the Wii in the fourth quarter of 2006. Internationally, the company hopes to launch with no more than four months difference between the first and last launching regions.[4] A previous statement by Satoru Iwata indicated Nintendo's intentions to launch before Thanksgiving.[5] A spokesman for Nintendo has stated that a precise release date and price will be announced in September.[6]
While Nintendo has yet to announce an exact price for the console as of August 2006, Yoshihiro Miro, senior managing director for Nintendo, has stated that the Wii will cost no more than JP楼25,000 (price in US$) in Japan, US$250 in America. A Nintendo spokesman said that the price in the UK "will be in line with Japanese and US prices announced" (Japanese and US prices in GB拢). The company intends to release 6 million console units and 17 million software units during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2007; and 4 million or more console units by the end of the 2006 calendar year.[7] Despite the price point of US$60 quoted for many next-generation games,[8] Nintendo has confirmed that first-party games would cost US$50 at the most.[9]
A few early rumors indicated that Nintendo will release the Wii on November 6, 2006.[10] On July 25, 2006, however, Nintendo issued a cryptic press release that stated:
Perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item. You might want to pore over it for a few hours before staying up all night to debate phraseology and comma placement with your friends online. Or maybe it's all just a scam to get you to read the other games we have launching this fall. One of the two.
- Nintendo press release[11]
In the press release was a list of launch dates for several Nintendo DS games. An article at Gaming Target interpreted the press release to indicate a Wii release date of October 2.[12] IGN came to the same conclusion, reporting that separate rumors have suggested that Nintendo could be planning to launch Wii directly after the late-September Tokyo Game Show.[13]
Newer rumors state that the Wii may launch on November 12th for 229.99.
There you go hope that it helps you some the website is very informative as well.
In Japan the price will be the equivilant to 拢125, but here it will be 拢180.What do you think of Nintendo Wii release date and price?
I think it will be released is december of 2006
and the cost will be about $200-$300.
I wouldn't expect the Wii to launch any earlier than October, probably in November, as you said.
However, the suggested $299 price originated in a descriptiong to a 7-Eleven contest that would end in someone winning a Wii. It is very possible that 7-Eleven ramped up the price a bit to make winning the console seem more worthwhile (or just simply could have guessed).
Nintendo has already said they wish to launch the Wii at "no more" than $250.What do you think of Nintendo Wii release date and price?
Well the wii was said to hit shelves in summer but it got changed to somewhere near hooloween and thanksgiving and as far as know the wii is said to be lower than 250 dallors. Also i'm thinking that's a cheap price for what the xbox360 and PS3 are going to be (or are rigth now). PS3 is going to be like 500 bucks. You proably know the price for the 360. So proably since wii is going to be cheap it's going to sell a lot. check the polls at www.gamefaqs.com

price and date is perfect for holiday season. unsure how fun and useful the controller will be though
I don't think to much of the new Wii. Once you get past Zelda and Metroid most of the remaining games are for kids, they have no hard core games to speak of. The graphics are not as good as the ps3. The only thing about the Wii that people are buzzing about is the controller which looks like a t.v remote. Once you get past the remote it is a weak system with weak games and graphics. The ps3 has more power and better games as well as more ability's then the Wii.
the wii is probably comin out around sept.-november the price minimum 200 max.250
dont care im gettin ps3 even though it costs an arm and a leg
