In a recent interview:

---------------------------
IGN AU: The PS3 version used to be the 'lead' format, but mainly the 360 build has been shown publicly. Why is this?
Patrice Desilets: Because it's easier鈥?br>
IGN AU: Can you explain?
Patrice Desilets: It's easier to show it on 360 in general. But even with that, I don't want to go down that avenue. [laughs] I've said some stuff and I've gotten yelled at! Now, I don't want to talk about the technical [side]; I don't want to be part of the war! Personally, I don't design around a machine and it's something that takes place elsewhere. It's business and technology and I'm the guy in the middle of that.
------------------------------------
Not that it affects people as consumers, but I'm kind of curious as to what specifically Patrice is referring to when saying that one platform is better than the other for demonstrations. Why is the 360 a better platform to use to demonstrate a game, vs a ps3?
To try to accurately answer your question, developers have been saying for a while that the 360 is much easier to code for than the PS3. I agree with you that the PS3 is in no wa inferior, but Microsoft incorporated "XNA" which doesn't stand for nything in particular, into the 360 dev kits, which is said to be very easy on the developer. Sony, however, didn't do much at all in the way of making it's system easy to write code, so you can see, with the 360 already being easier on the devevloper with XNA, and the fact that it has been out for like two years, the 360 is the platform the devs would prefer to make a quick demo for showing off their game. In essence, developers are building their multi platform games on 360 first, then reworking the code and what not to work on the PS3 because of the difficulty to write software for it.
I hope that made sense. Why is the 360 a better platform to use to demonstrate a game, vs a ps3?
Well, you have to remember that the 360 has a whole year or so on the PS3, which means developers have had that time to explore it's limits and they can push them.
However, developers are still learning about the PS3, and therefore, they can't stretch the limits quite yet, since they're not sure what would happen.
That's pretty much it...once the PS3 is around for awhile, the developers will get more out of it and probably use it for demonstrations. Why is the 360 a better platform to use to demonstrate a game, vs a ps3?
In regards to the first poster:
I understand that. That's not the question...
in a public area, like at a conference such as E3, TGS, or the GDC, why would the Xbox 360 be an easier platform to demonstrate a game? I thought that part of the interview needed clarification. I'm just curious, b/c to some readers, that seems to connotate the idea that the ps3 is somehow inferior (which it is not).
